Salary: $41 - 48 per hour

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Hawaii has many outdoor activities all year round including surfing, fishing, and hiking.

Duties

Provide electrical support to the old and new facilities and structures. Inspect and maintain operational checks, installation and repair of a variety of electrical systems and industrial equipment. Provide technical advice concerning system and equipment capabilities and limitations. Work along with other workers setting the pace. You will be responsible for passing on to other workers instructions received from supervisor and start work.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and keep current a valid state driver's license and any installation and/or DOD requirement for the type vehicle being operated.
  • Incumbent to possess or obtain a valid state issued Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B, to operate vehicles off post on public highways and other roads.
  • Responds to emergency calls after regular working hours.
  • This position is designated as Drug Testing Required.
  • May be required to work nights, weekends and/or rotational shifts
  • Assures that environmental, safety and housekeeping rules are followed.
  • Mission Essential: Incumbent is required to report for duty during inclement weather, Natural Disasters, and other emergency situations and may be required to remain on duty after the official shift ends.
  • Incumbent must successfully pass a pre-employment physical and any subsequent annual physical.
  • Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) up to 10% of the time.

Qualifications

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Electrician Leader ~ without more than normal supervision. Ability to do the work of an Electrician Leader: experience demonstrating work procedures to others; perform journey level analysis, repairs, rebuilds, modification, installation, replacement, adjustments, disassembly, of electrical instruments and hydraulics; diagnose and isolate systems/subsystems' malfunctions, using standard and special test procedures; use technical manuals to troubleshoot systems, subsystems, and/or components. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Employee works in shops and at job sites. Strenuous physical exertion is often required. Employee may lift and move materials up to 40 pounds, unassisted, and occasionally lifts or moves heavier items with the assistance of lifting devices or other workers. Employee is required to stand, stoop, and bend. Knelling, climbing on ladders, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions and where parts of the system are in hard-to-reach places. Work is frequently done from ladders, scaffolding and platforms. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed both inside and outside. Work at job sites exposes employee to weather conditions and the hazards of working on and around scaffolds and ladders. Employee is subject to cuts, bruises electrical shock, burns and contusions. May be required to work in confined areas such as crawl spaces and attics, which may be dusty and dirty. Protective devices such as but not limited to ear plugs, safety glasses, respirators, gloves, hard hat and safety shoes is required. Steel toe shoes, hard hats and safety glasses, are required at all times. Long trousers or coveralls and shirt or tee shirt with sleeves are worn.
