This position is responsible for the start-up and shut-down of all textile care processing facilities equipment each day. This position provides leadership and direction to approximately 30 textile care employees.
Duties
Perform start-up and shut-down of all textile care processing facility equipment
Monitors the operation of the textile care facility and reports malfunctions to supervisors.
Trains employees on proper machine operation, safety and lock-out / tag-out procedures, machine operator safety, washer operation, chemical handling, loading patterns, using cart washer, processing linens, cart washer, processing linens, cart loading, motor vehicle operations, and delivery of linen.
Obtains information or decisions from supervisors on problems that arise during the workday.
Confers with supervisors daily to determine priorities for linen processing.
Makes routine decisions, maintains a current knowledge and answers employees' questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions or other directives and machine operations.
Answers question on overall work and causes of delays to supervisors.
Protects sensitive information and electronic files under the provisions of the Privacy Act of 1974.
Ensures needed plans, materials and tools are available.
Ensures needed stock is obtained from supply locations.
Checks work progress to ensure production needs are met, proper procedures are followed and there is sufficient work to keep employees busy.
Reports progress of work and causes of delays to supervisors.
Ensures adequate plant maintenance and that cleaning and infection control requirements are maintained.
Follows Joint Commission Standards for hospital laundry facilities.
Ensures laundry areas remain clean and meet Joint Commission and Infection Control requirements and assist in cleaning the plant at the end of the shift.
Operates equipment and trains others by demonstrating proper work methods in safety, production and quality standards.
Ensures employees are compliant with OSHA regulations regarding Personal Protective Equipment.
Ensures safety rules and regulations are being observed by employees and those in the textile care facility.
Demonstrates proper techniques and safe practices to employees.
Provides leadership and direction to textile care employees
Leads and monitors work performance of Transition Work Experience (TWE) to Compensatory Work Therapy (CWT)patients.
Assists supervisors in providing on-the-job training for new personnel.
Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 07:00am-3:30pm (Subject to change based on the needs of the Facility)

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: As a Laundry Work Leader (AWL) you must have stamina and dexterity of body to stand and/ or walk continuously on hard surfaced floors. You will continually bend and reach when performing duties. You will be exposed to repetitive motion of arms, wrist and hands, and is required to perform simple grasping and fine hand manipulation, reaching outward and above the shoulder. Speed will be required in hand and arm movements to meet production standards. Considerable stooping, bending, and lifting of linen and bags that may exceed 50 pounds will be required. Must be able to wear PPE for extended periods of time as dictated by the work setting. As a Laundry Work Leader (AWL) you must be able to load and unload 100-600-pound washers. Position routinely requires that individual operate vehicles, electrical equipment and must exert physical effort to load, unload and transport by pushing and pulling clean and soiled linen carts weighing up to 700 pounds, in a controlled manner in and out of laundry truck, to and from loading docks to various locations with the TCPF, GCVHCS and other locations.As a Laundry Work Leader (AWL) you will be exposed to disagreeable odors and possibly infectious organisms from soiled linens, in the performance of required duties. Potential exists for sharps exposure in soiled linen. You will be subjected to heat, high humidity, noise and minor cuts and bruises form carts and machinery. You will be exposed to drafts from open doors and spot air conditioning, plus lint in the air. You will wear gown, mask, and gloves when working in the soiled linen area. You will be exposed to hazardous objects in the soiled linen sorting section.
