This position serves as the Lafayette CBOC Campus B Clinic Manager, and Clinic Manager for mental health space in Campus A, Jennings and Lake Charles, with primary administrator responsibility for mental health access and scheduling. This position works with a variety of employees from various services and work groups, and is responsible for coordinating, directing, and assuring quality management of the patient care administrative activities for all mental health supported clinics.
Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Providing leadership and management in the ambulatory mental health care settings.
Directing medical administration employees in mental health programs related to clinical administrative management support.
Managing the ambulatory data capture program and ensuring orders for new studies or tests, clinic appointments, or other actions are processed.
Ensuring compliance with VHA directives and local policy.
Creating and capturing data, monitoring and resolving open encounters using various databases and computer systems.
Performing supervisory functions to include human resource management.
Conducting special projects or studies to analyze, evaluate, and provide recommendations on administrative programs.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm, subject to change based on the needs of the facility

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/28/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-9. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-9 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Implementing medical clinic policies and priorities; Coordinating, organizing, and directing the outpatient health care delivery system functions for a medical clinical office; Assisting management in analyzing and evaluating administrative activities; Performing or assisting in medical records administration; Experience monitoring and resolving issues by creating and capturing data using various databases.

Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M, if related (transcripts required).

Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience as described above and graduate education as described above beyond the first two graduate years or 36 semester hours.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, although it also involves walking to, through, and from clinic and ward areas. Driving is required frequently throughout the AVAHCS catchment area of all MH clinic locations.
