The primary purpose of this position will be to use physics-based models to provide predictive analysis of engagement effectiveness that will aid customers in operational planning activities and requirement generation for capability advancement.
Duties
DR-0801-1/2
Prepare and carry out Monte Carlo-like simulations with multi-variable, engineering-level, physics-based models. Statistically analyze results.
Determine predictive results and make engagement recommendations backed by the derived data.
Develop and/or manipulate target vulnerability models using computer aided design (CAD) software through knowledge application of functions, materials, and construction.
Present ideas and bring to fruition initiatives that increase the speed and/or the breadth/rigor of analysis.

Qualifications

For DR-I: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience is defined as work in the private or public sector performing duties in or related to the work of the position being filled. Examples of specialized experience include understanding of methods and practices in identifying, formulating, evaluating, nurturing and promoting the generation and exchange of new theories, concepts, principles, methods, applications, and practices, experience applying quantitative and qualitative analysis and investigative techniques in order to synthesize data, evaluate significant factors, and recommend ways to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of work operations, application of mathematical and statistical theories. Through engineering-level models, demonstrate capability shortfalls and make recommendations to customers/capability owners that will increase the operational success of engagement.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the DR-1/GS-07/9/11 broadband position in the federal service.
For DR-II: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to DR-I/GS-11 level in the Federal service or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience is defined as work in the private or public sector performing duties in or related to the work of the position being filled. Examples of specialized experience should include comprehensive experience of advanced scientific design and development principles, methods and practices in identifying, formulating, evaluating, nurturing and promoting the generation and exchange of new theories, concepts, principles, methods, applications, and practices, life cycle management concepts; weapons development and testing and/or physics-based simulation. Build interactive and static products to be consumed at the highest levels of government that convey concrete recommendations while demonstrating the analytical level of rigor and depth of analysis.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the DR-II (GS-12/13 equivalent) position in the federal service.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Professional knowledge of general engineering policies, theories, finite element analysis, principles and concepts, modeling, probability, and familiarity with other engineering disciplines to carry out conventional engineering assignments.
Ability to analyze, interpret and apply analysis from engineering, physics-based models in a variety of situations and recommend effective solutions to senior engineers.
Coding/scripting knowledge with experience using Python.
Ability to develop and manipulate technical drawings with Computer Aided Design software.
