The incumbent of this position serves as an On-Site Personnel Security Assistant within the PERSEC Service and performs security-related functions in support of a Network PERSEC and Credentialing Program within a Shared Services Unit. This position also entails Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Program responsibility, which is a government-wide identification standard for identity credentials issued by the Federal Government to its employees, contractors, affiliates, and volunteers.
Duties

This is a developmental position that ranges from the GS-05 to the GS-07. At the full performance level, the incumbent will perform the below (not all inclusive) major duties: Personal Identification Verification (PIV)
Complete All process's associated with the Personal Identification Verification (PIV) credentials for federal employees, affiliates, and contractors in accordance with the requirements of publication FIPS-201 and other applicable government directives.
Performs work related tasks for the collection, organization and/or tracking of information in support of the Personnel Security Program
Pulls required reports needed to support the Personal Identification Verification (PIV) Program.
Provides high level support to all customers (internal/external) related to Personal Identification Verification (PIV) Program.
Provides high level troubleshooting support to the Personal Identification Verification (PIV) Program sponsors.
Ensures PCIF compliance as required by the PIV Assessment and Validation Team.
Participates with co-workers to accomplish work-related duties, remains courteous when working with others, relates well to people from varied backgrounds and different situations.
Verify personnel Information utilizing multiple security applications.
Assists the Personnel Suitability Specialist with higher level tasks with Supervisor approval.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.(Alternate schedules may be necessary to meet the needs of the organization)
Telework: Ad-hoc telework authorized at the discretion of the supervisor

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
GS-7 Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-6 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include initiating, reviewing and releasing appointees background investigations in the Office of Personnel Management's Electronic Questionnaires for Investigations Processing (e-QIP) system or in conjunction with the VA- Adjudication Center (VA-AC) to meet OPM regulation standard; providing technical advice and guidance to employees, contractors, affiliates, and volunteers regarding matters pertaining to the PIV Program and maintaining required files related to the suitability process in accordance with OPM/agency guidelines.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Some work may require movement between offices, hospitals, warehouses, and similar areas for meetings and to conduct work. Work may also require walking/standing, in conjunctions with travel to and attendance at meetings and/or conferences away from the work site. Incumbent may carry and lift light items weighing less than 15 pounds.
