About the Position: Works as a Psychology Technician in the Department of Behavioral Health, providing behavioral health assessments and individual and group outpatient treatment to high-risk behavioral health patients under the supervision of a privileged behavioral health provider.

Duties
Collect and record psychosocial data and assist with direct treatment and management of behavioral health patients with a variety of complex behavioral health problems.
Provide behavioral health assessments and individual and group outpatient treatment under the supervision of a privileged behavioral health provider.
Determine the degree of severity, differential diagnoses and/or other complications, and provide treatment recommendations.
Provide psycho-educational training on various behavioral problems that affect the patient's ability to function competently.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent will have to pass a pre-employment physical to meet Physical Efforts requirements.
- This position requires the ability to lift 30 lbs.
- Position requires occasional TDY - 5%.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) Training and certification sponsored or endorsed by the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., Advanced Life Support) does not supersede BLS completion.
- This is an inclement weather position. The incumbent is expected to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during inclement weather conditions.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes evaluating behavioral health patients, assisting in providing psychological counseling services, and maintaining client files. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Psychology, Human Services, Child & Family Welfare, Counseling (ex. crisis, substance abuse, mental health, chemical dependence), Family and Community Services, Behavioral Science, Human Development, Social Work, Sociology, Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling, or related field of study.

Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
