This position is located in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD (R&E)). The USD (R&E) serves as the Chief Technology Officer and is responsible for research, development, and prototyping activities within the Department of Defense (DoD).

Incumbents typical work assignments may include the following:
Serves as Intelligence lead supporting the Assault Breaker II (ABII) program for the Department of Defense from within the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Mission Capabilities (OASD(MC)).
Guides a team of intelligence professionals toward fostering a culture of strategic thinking and innovation.
Provides expert consultation on a range of strategic issues, thereby influencing interagency committees, conferences, and workgroups to reflect the organization's interests.
Leads administrative reforms in the collection, production, and dissemination of intelligence, ensuring enhanced efficiency and effectiveness.
Evaluates international situations and formulates strategic solutions that influence broader policy decisions and initiatives.
Develops and implements policies to ensure compliance with national intelligence requirements and organizational goals.
Manages various intelligence related studies, synchronizes joint projects with other organizations, and addresses broad intelligence and security questions to resolve stakeholder concerns.

You may qualify at the NH-4 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:
For the NH-04/(GS-14/15), you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the NH-III(GS-13) pay band or equivalent grade level, generally GS-13, in the Federal service or equivalent private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as: Displaying comprehensive understanding of varied intelligence research and collection techniques and practices; Utilizing multi-source intelligence systems to gather and report data; Performing complex research, identifying data systems/sources, and creating collection requirement assessments for supporting stakeholders; Utilizing research tools to evaluate open-source materials, geospatial data, and structured and unstructured information.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
