This position is located in the Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Weather Service (NWS), National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP), and Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC), with one vacancy in Boulder, CO.

Duties
The working title of this position is Senior Software Developer. As a Senior Software Developer, you will perform the following duties:
Lead and provide program and technical expertise of software development for space weather prediction products and services.
Develop or design software applications for subject matter users and/or oversees equipment installation, relocation, testing and acceptance processes.
Provide expert advice, guidance and recommendations on innovative solutions and new approaches in the administration of infrastructure technology.

EDUCATION: There is no positive education requirement for this position.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
To qualify for the 2210 series:
For all positions, individuals must have IT-related experience (which may be may be obtained by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate) demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:

3. To qualify at the GS-14 level:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In addition to meeting the IT Competencies above, applicants must also possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 in the Federal service. Specialized experience MUST include all of the following:
Modernize legacy applications using modern development languages such as:(Java, Python, SQL) to prepare web-based products for containerization and cloud hosting;
Assess stakeholder needs and translate business requirements into technical specifications for development using demonstrated Agile development frameworks such as SCRUM or Kanban; and,
Apply Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) management principles to large-scale development projects by guiding teams and projects through all lifecycle phases.
