This position is located in the Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Weather Service (NWS), National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP), and Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC), with one vacancy in Boulder, CO. Duties

The working title of this position is Senior Software Developer. As a Senior Software Developer, you will perform the following duties: Lead and provide program and technical expertise of software development for space weather prediction products and services. Develop or design software applications for subject matter users and/or oversees equipment installation, relocation, testing and acceptance processes. Provide expert advice, guidance and recommendations on innovative solutions and new approaches in the administration of infrastructure technology.

Specialized experience MUST include all of the following: Modernize legacy applications using modern development languages such as:(Java, Python, SQL) to prepare web-based products for containerization and cloud hosting; Assess stakeholder needs and translate business requirements into technical specifications for development using demonstrated Agile development frameworks such as SCRUM or Kanban; and, Apply Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) management principles to large-scale development projects by guiding teams and projects through all lifecycle phases.
