Serves as Supervisory Pharmacist Informaticist in the Office of Clinical Informatics. This position works directly with key national, regional, and local programmatic leadership to ensure mission-essential clinical priorities are applied into practice across VHA; and leads interdisciplinary work to analyze clinical problems and design and implement solutions that lead to an enterprise standard of care. This vacancy may be filled in Washington, DC or a location to be determined.

VA Careers - Pharmacy: https://youtube.com/embed/Fn_ickNBEws Major duties include but are not limited to: Serves as the Supervisory Pharmacy Informaticist within Integrated Health Practice (IHP), organizationally located within the Applied Informatics (AI) Division Office of Clinical Informatics (OCI) within the Office of Health Informatics (OHI). Provides executive level leadership, program management, and directs the technical, business, modernization, and cultural strategy for development of nationally implemented technical tools, and process changes, that ensure a single standard of care and experience for veterans and clinical staff. Functions under the supervision of the Director of IHP and work collaboratively with the Supervisory Health System Specialist and Supervisory Physician within that section as well as working collaboratively with other leaders within IHP, AI and OCI as projects require. Uses an advanced knowledge of pharmaceutics, pharmacokinetics, pharmaco-economics, and pharmacotherapeutics to make data-driven decisions that contribute to the overall enterprise solution to clinical problems. This also requires investigating and solving complex computer-program and/or data-related problems. Provides leadership in analyzing, planning, implementing, monitoring, and coordinating all analytical, educational, and programmatic activities. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 08:00 AM - 04:30pm Compressed/Flexible: Available Telework: Available (applicant is required on site at least 50% of work schedule per pay period) Remote: This is not a remote position. Qualifications

Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. English Language Proficiency. Pharmacists must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), and 7407(d). Education: Graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited College or School of Pharmacy with a baccalaureate degree in pharmacy (BS Pharmacy) and/or a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree. Verification of approved degree programs may be obtained from the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education, http://www.acpe-accredit.org/. Note: Prior to 2005 ACPE accredited both baccalaureate and Doctor of Pharmacy terminal degree program. Today the sole degree is Doctor of Pharmacy. Licensure: Full, current, and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States (i.e., Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia. The pharmacist must maintain current registration if this a requirement for maintaining full, current, and unrestricted licensure. A pharmacist who has, or has ever had, any license(s) revoked, suspended, denied, restricted, limited, or issued/placed in a probationary status may be appointed only in accordance with the provisions in VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Chapter 3, section B, paragraph 16. May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria). Grade Determinations: GS-14 Pharmacist National Program Manager Experience: In addition to the basic requirements, you must have 1 year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-13). Demonstrated KSAs. The KSAs shown below apply to all assignments at this grade level. 1. Skill in persuading others and gaining cooperation to accomplish goals. 2. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing regarding complex clinical and technical issues. 3. Skill in utilizing regulatory and quality standards to develop and implement operational programs. 4. Skill in managing multiple and diverse people or programs. 5. Skill in utilizing available resources to support the mission and goals of the organization. Preferred Experience: Analyzing emerging trends, software, technology, and processes and supporting adoption of appropriate methods. Experience assessing the impact of Information technology and informatics initiatives on end user workflow clinical processes and achieving programmatic goals. Experience in monitoring and participating in health information interface development, functional and integration testing, phased implementation, and the development of training requirements. Participates in the development of acceptance criteria for various phases of the product development lifecycle (e.g., requirements development, testing, national release). Shows strength in communicating with leadership and end users. Experience interacting with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to effectively communicate clinical IT needs and project requirements. Has participated in developing collaborative relationships for sharing information, identifying viable IT systems, and resolving organizational issues and conflicts such as those involving implementation and development of informatics resources. Has performed analytical and evaluative work related to specific informatics content areas such as clinical decision support, order management and document management. Quality Ranking Factors: Experience incorporating health informatics into pharmacy practice. Expertise in projects related to VistA/CPRS and the pharmacy package. Experience leading interdisciplinary teams and utilizing project management expertise. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily performed while sitting, though some work may require periods of standing. The regular and recurring work of this position involves sitting at a desk, conferences, and meetings, and occasional visits to community and nationwide sites.
