You will serve as a PLUMBER in the Public Works of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.

Duties

You will read and interpret work orders and sketches to determine measurements for plumbing assignments. You will use hand or power pipe threaders and cutters to cut and thread pipes to correct size and length. You will plan initial layout to final assembly of systems by using building plans, blueprints, sketches, and other plumbing guides or codes. You will align pipes, valves, fittings, joints, braces, and supports to control movement, vibration, expansion, and contraction. You will use measurements specified in work orders to cut, bend, thread, and assemble pipes for fabricating piping systems or sections of piping systems. You will use shop mathematics to accomplish assigned plumbing projects.

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
• May require shift work.
• Emergency overtime may be required.

Qualifications

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. I have the ability to perform common tasks including 1) Assisting with installing, modifies, repairing new and existing utility, supply and disposal systems and equipment within facility infrastructures (sewage, water, oil and gas distribution systems) in order to locate and tap into main lines, locate system routes, placing and cutting and installing valves and unions, etc; 2) Reading and interpret blueprints, sketches in order to lay out projects, using proper procedures and operations; and 3) Utilizing tools and equipment of the plumbing systems ).
