You will serve as an IT SPECIALIST (INFORMATION SECURITY) within NAVAL SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT ACTIVITY.
This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.
Duties
You will serve as the Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) and subject matter expert on matters concerning Network Services.
You will be responsible for monitoring and investigating the organization's networks for security breaches.
You will manage network and system access, equipment maintenance, managing systems resources including performance, capacity, availability, service ability and recoverability.
You will maintain systems configuration and/or ensures the rigorous application of information security, information assurance policies, principles, and practices to the systems administration process.
You will apply Navy information systems security processes and functions associated with cybersecurity.
You will maintain security related software, network security devices such as firewalls, Intrusion detection and prevention devices and data encryption programs designed to protect sensitive information.
You will manage the installation and integration of system fixes, updates and enhancements
You will ensure the application of information assurance, planning, and designing, developing, acquiring, documenting, testing, implementing, integrating, maintaining, or modifying systems configuration.

- This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role of Cyber Defense Infrastructure Support Specialist, proficiency level intermediate.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
- The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.
Qualifications
In addition to my experience demonstrating the four competencies above, I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate performing duties such as the following:
1) Utilizing Splunk Enterprise Security, GEM One Encryptor Manager, Endpoint Security Solutions (ESS), Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) sufficient to lead industry IT security solutions used to develop and refine information systems, communication security systems and enterprise network architectures.
2) Applying knowledge of systems integration, inter-service relationships within and across information systems (IS) security boundaries.
3) Applying an understanding of the Federal Law, IT best practices, Risk Management Framework (RMF), requirements, procurement process, and the roles and responsibilities of the information systems owners as they pertain to the Navy's information architecture and enterprise information systems.
