Duties
You will install, maintain, replace and repair low pressure steam and hot water circulating boilers, warm air furnaces, space heaters, infrared heaters, and related equipment.
You will repair and replace coils, mechanical components such as change-over valves and 3-way valves, and motors to pumps on all air handling units.
You will test units and systems using prescribed test procedures, voltage testers, and hand tools.
You will make periodic checks of all equipment and visually and physically check meters, shafts, bearings, motors, belts, and electric pumps to ensure proper operation.
You will perform continuous preventative maintenance inspections and repairs to active and inactive equipment.
You will be responsible for independently starting, adjusting, maintaining, and periodically monitoring water level, steam pressure, water temperature and other gauges to ensure efficient operation.
You will replenish chemical feed tanks and monitor feed water conditioning equipment to control or remove impurities and entrapped gasses.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- This a Bargaining Unit position.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- This position requires rotating shift work.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You may be recalled to duty during non-duty hours (including weekends) to support emergency situations or make emergency repairs.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: The ability to perform common tasks including the operational maintenance of gas fired steam/hot water boilers, high temperature hot water re-boilers, and auxiliary equipment.
