This National Guard position is for a HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT (MILITARY) (T32), Position Description Number D2056000 and is part of the AL HQS 151ST CBRN Battalion, National Guard.

Duties
1. Assists in administering the military personnel program for the organization. Prepares for and participates in command level inspections in the area of personnel and administration. Compiles subordinate feeder information, identifies trends, and proposes recommendations based upon recurring required reports and/or findings of assistance visits and inspections. Reviews and provides recommendations for the assignment and utilization of military personnel in accordance with authorized manning documents. Accomplishes or reviews a variety of military personnel transactions including enlistments, separations, flagging actions, reassignments, promotions, duty assignments, transfers, medical evaluations, line of duty actions, security clearances, awards and decorations, retirements, etc., and forwards actions as required to a higher headquarters.
2. Provide administrative support for brigade level enlisted promotion boards. Reviews enlisted promotion actions prior to submission to higher headquarters for quality and completion. Reviews and recommends changes to the preliminary enlisted promotion consideration list to ensure all personnel eligible are considered.
3. Assists with the coordination of health services support. Reviews the status of all physical examinations within the command and makes recommendations for scheduling and completion. Review and forward reports of periodic health assessments. Inputs information regarding periodic vaccinations, profiles, and other medical data as required. Provides technical guidance and reviews formal and informal line of duty investigations submitted by subordinate units. Reviews and/or prepares the packets required for submission to the medical review and profile boards.
4. Provides assistance to the commander and staff pertaining to military personnel administration. Researches and resolves routine military personnel problems and questions. Assist in the preparation of unit standing operating procedures. Assistin the implementation of Department of Defense, Department of the Army, Major Command, National Guard, and state regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to the full range of personnel actions.
5. Provides information to unit personnel about benefits and entitlements, career and bonus programs, educational, retirement, and other benefits. Provide explanations of regulations, methods, procedures, and exceptions involved in routine military personnel actions. May provide assistance to soldiers and dependents concerning benefits and entitlements. Provide guidance to subordinate unit personnel in the maintenance of military personnel records.
6. Participates in unit Soldier Readiness Processing (SRP) for those units whose service members are being mobilized to active duty. Provides counseling to service members on available benefits, accuracy of the emergency data and contact information and the accuracy of the DEERS/RAPIDS (Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System/Realtime Automated Personnel Identification System) information, and allows the service member to perform a general review of their record.
7. Assembles supporting documentation required at higher levels when processing actions such as involuntary order to active duty, courts martial, fraudulent enlistment, non-selection for retention, administrative discharges, etc.
8. Reviews copies of unit reports furnished by higher level military personnel offices to identify discrepancies and assist with the management of personnel assets within the organization. Reviews and submits source documents for military personnel records and retirement accounting.
9. Performs various administrative duties relating to military personnel involving the composition and distribution of correspondence, publications, reports, orders, etc. Maintain the file system for brigade personnel and administrative section. Maintain the publication accounts for the organization and subordinate elements. Prepares, reviews, and forwards postage and duplication equipment usage reports.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position with experience using computer and automation systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least one-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of an extensive body of regulations and procedures sufficient to review, validate, and maintain military personnel records and supporting documents. Knowledge to provide regulatory guidance and recommendations to the unit commander for a variety of personnel actions such as discharges, promotions, reassignments, reductions, military code violations, line-of duty investigations/determinations, etc. Knowledge of personnel deployment requirements to maintain individual mobilization files, review and monitor the status of personnel and medical deployment requirements, and provide recommendations to the unit commander and senior FTS member concerning personnel and administrative readiness. Knowledge of pay regulations and procedures sufficient to prepare and submit pay documents, research and correct pay discrepancies and to assist in gathering and submitting documentation necessary to receive educational and bonus incentives. Knowledge of administrative regulations sufficient to function as the unit file/ publications manager and prepare a variety of reports or correspondence for the organization. Knowledge of retirement programs, survivor benefits, and casualty assistance sufficient to counsel unit members concerning elections and available benefits. Knowledge of military personnel training sufficient to assist in the request for and documentation of training. Knowledge of personnel authorizations, requirements, and criteria sufficient to coordinate with and assist strength maintenance personnel and improve personnel readiness levels. Knowledge of strength maintenance procedures for the unit in order to complete related reports. Knowledge and skill in the use of automated systems.
