This position is located in Management Directorate, Office of Security and Integrity, Mission Assurance Division, Identity Credential and Access Mgmt Branch.
As a Security Specialist, you will serve as a Special Security Officer responsible for safeguarding SCI from unauthorized access or inadvertent disclosure.
Duties
Serving as a Special Security Officer (SSO) with the USCIS Office of Security and Integrity.
Serving as the technical authority responsible for safeguarding Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) from unauthorized access or inadvertent disclosure by ensuring only duly authorized and indoctrinated personnel access SCI.
Investigating and analyzing a broad range of unusual SCI Security problems, questions, or conditions associated with handling, processing, storing, or discussing SCI or questions related to national SCI programs.
Possessing knowledge of Intelligence Community Directives and DHS management directives to ensure compliance with and enforce DHS and Intelligence Community SCI policies and procedures.
Performs as a Preliminary Inquiry Officer to investigate and resolve SCI Security incidents: Oversees SCIF Construction Security Requirements during SCIF construction projects; Performs briefings: Indoctrination Assists, Debriefing, Annual Refresher.
Processing and conducting an inquiry of SCI security incidents; Participates in DHS Working Groups; Prepares for the DHS Security Compliance Review, bi-annually; Serves as agency representative/liaison with various stakeholders.
Qualifications
The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 10/25/2024.
Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 10/25/2024.
GS-14: You qualify at the GS-14 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties:
Managing and administering a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF).
Developing policies and procedures concerning special security and SCIF construction and inspection.
Representing an agency in Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) inter-agency working groups.
Investigates SCI security incidents.
Administering special security awareness training for a large organization.
