You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the Facilities Support Contracts Branch, Facilities Engineering & Acquisition Division, Public Works Department Earle of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.

Duties

You will visit work sites to gain further information pertaining to the scope of work, amount and type of labor, material required, and anticipated work problems. You will apply comprehensive knowledge of technical engineering principles, building codes, and safety regulations. You will review and recommend approval of shop drawings, manufacturer’s data and materials for acceptance from contractors. You will utilize computers and software systems to prepare specifications, cost estimates, and schedules.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
  • You may at any time be assigned to a similar position at any site or workstation within the commuting area.
  • May be designated as ALPHA personnel and required to report for duty or held in a duty status to provide support before, during and/or after special emergency situations.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Visiting work sites to gain further information pertaining to the scope of work, amount and type of labor, material required, and anticipated work problems; 2) Applying comprehensive knowledge of technical engineering principles, building codes, and safety regulations; 3) Reviewing and recommending approval of shop drawings, manufacturer's data and materials for acceptance from contractors; 4) Utilizing computers and software systems to prepare specifications, cost estimates, and schedules.
