You will serve as a SUPERVISOR in the DATA SCIENCE AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (56000) of NAVWARSYSCEN ATLANTIC CHARLESTON SC.

Duties

You will serve as a Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic First-Line Engineering Supervisor for the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Engineering Competency You will make well-informed, effective, and timely decisions, even when data is limited, or solutions produce unpleasant consequences and perceive the impact and implications of decisions. You will apply principles, procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies related to specialized expertise of your team. You will identify and analyze problems; weigh relevance and accuracy of information; generate and evaluate alternative solutions; and make actionable recommendations. Provide and oversee Expeditionary Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), data science and artificial intelligence services for the engineering, design, integration, deployment, and sustainment of capabilities and products. You will build and manage your team based on organizational goals, budget considerations, and staffing needs, ensuring that employees are appropriately recruited, selected, appraised, and rewarded. You will develop the ability of others to perform and contribute to the organization by providing ongoing feedback and by providing opportunities to learn through formal and informal methods.   • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Knowledge of Expeditionary ISR and/or Data Science concepts; balancing of human capital management and technical knowledge and skill requirements. Must be a strong coach and mentor; organized and employ clear, concise communication strategies. Ability to lead technical teams. Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess
0854/0855: A. Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. OR B. Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following: 1. Professional registration or licensure -- Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT)1 , or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Absent other means of qualifying under this standard, those applicants who achieved such registration by means other than written test (e.g., State grandfather or eminence provisions) are eligible only for positions that are within or closely related to the specialty field of their registration. For example, an applicant who attains registration through a State Board's eminence provision as a manufacturing engineer typically would be rated eligible only for manufacturing engineering positions. 2. Written Test -- Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE)2 examination or any other written test required for professional

1550: Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science.
