This position is located in the Facilities and Engineering Division of Lake Mead National Recreation Area in Interior Region 8.
This is a term position (more than 1 year) with an initial appointment to last at least 13 months may be extended up to a total of 10 years.

Duties
As an Engineering Technician GS-0802-09 with the National Park Service (NPS), your duties will include, but are not limited to:
As a term Engineering Technician, you will work on a variety of facility and construction-based projects that will provide engineering oversight for construction, architecture, or engineering contracts.
Prepares and maintains project documentation, such as logs, reports, photographs, correspondence, status reports, record of meetings, conversations, etc.
Evaluates architecture/engineering studies, plans and specifications to determine constructability, conformance with project scope, and agency requirements.
Conducts inspections and assessments, including condition assessments of civil works facilities, buildings, mechanical and electrical systems, transportation infrastructure, and construction site conditions.
Serves as the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) to implement and administer a variety of contracts.
Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.
Qualifications
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-10/29/2024-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement.
In order to qualify for this position, you must meet one of the following basic requirements:
Specialized experience that includes technical work in drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems.
OR
Certified by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies, an organization sponsored by the National Society of Professional Engineers. Note: Please ensure you submit a copy of your certification or proof of sponsorship.
In addition to meeting the basic requirements, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-8 level providing support and guidance for technical engineering methods, principles, requirements and work techniques which includes: Performing difficult technical engineering evaluation and analysis assignments; Preparing original drawings and preliminary layouts; Installing, testing, calibrating, troubleshooting, operating, and maintaining instrumentation and equipment associated with engineering and architecture projects and activities; Conducting inspections and assessments of civil work facilities, building, marine vessels, hydraulic systems, mechanical and electrical systems, materials laboratories or mixing plants, transportation infrastructure and construction sites.
OR
Two full years of graduate education or Master's degree in a related discipline such as: engineering technology, engineering, construction, or industrial technology.
OR
Combination of education and experience.

Education
To qualify based on education, you must possess two full years of graduate education or Master's degree in a related discipline such as: engineering technology, engineering, construction, or industrial technology.
