You will serve as a Facilities Management Specialist (FMS) of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.
Duties
You will provide engineering expertise on difficult or novel problems.
You will serve as the resident expert on the condition of the facilities.
You will review all projects that impact assigned facilities and customers for scope, complexity, and design to ensure that sound engineering principles are utilized and that work is compatible with facility systems and missions.
You will screen all work requirements considering issues of safety, urgency, health, and security to recommend or initiate appropriate action to properly maintain the facility and minimize life cycle costs.
You will coordinate all maintenance services for assigned facilities and provide guidance and expertise to both reimbursable and non-reimbursable customers concerning requests, funding, and execution of facility maintenance.

- This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
Qualifications
GS-11:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Demonstrating customer service experience by answering calls to provide project updates, convey safety, urgency of building matters, and security; 2) Communicating technical information to facility customers clearly in writing and orally; 2) Interpreting construction drawings for all engineering disciplines; 3) Utilizing various computer programs and Microsoft programs; 4) Evaluating existing conditions to make recommendations for building system repairs and new construction; and 5) Collaborating with other departments within the Public work business line and building tenants.
GS-10:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:1) Demonstrating customer service experience by answering calls to provide project updates, convey safety, urgency of building matters, and security; 2) Communicating technical information to facility customers clearly in writing and orally; 3) Interpreting construction drawings for all engineering disciplines with minimal supervision; and 4) Collaborating under supervision with other departments within the Public work business line and building tenants.
