You will serve as an Emergency Management Specialist in the Radiological Controls Monitoring Division of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will monitor the effectiveness and coordinate overall management of casualty responses, to include casualty control, radiological, spills, and other major disaster exercises and responses.. You will serve as the technical authority over drill organizations, recommend improved procedures, and monitor overall program management. You will assess the impact of activities regarding personnel safety and provide overall assessment for improvement. You will plan and schedule drills, assessments, and investigations to evaluate level of preparedness. You will interpret higher and local level casualty preparedness compliance requirements and adapt this knowledge into integrated drill plans. You will be responsible for the Shipyard training program for emergency medical response to reactor accidents and radiological emergencies. You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
• This position requires some walking over rough terrain, bending, reaching, stooping, crouching, and long periods of standing when monitoring worksite surveillances.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: overseeing a radiological emergency management program for identifying issues on work methods and procedures, recommending improvements, or coordinating training programs to increase the effectiveness or efficiency of casualty preparedness operations.
