You will serve as a MECHANICAL SHOPS SUPERVISOR II in the MACHINERY DIVISION, REPAIR DEPARTMENT of TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY, BANGOR.

Duties

You will act as the Production supervisor of 3 different shops. You will act as a production execution coordinator between the shop you are assigned to and all shops in other divisions, ships force personnel and several other repair shops. You will ensure priority jobs are progressed in a timely manner. You will report problems, work stoppage, or job holdups with recommended solutions to all supervisors that have more responsibilities. You will perform continuous in-progress checks of jobs in the shops and on the ships and assist in resolving equipment/material delays and problems with supervisors and mechanics. You will review and update the production status report and attend production status meetings. You will coordinate and seek engineering advice in resolving problems with equipment and material. You will review blueprints, sketches, schematics, manuals, and visit the work site to determine the necessary resolution required to keep the job progressing. You will conduct shift turnovers and night work meetings with Shop Supervisors and attend planning and management meetings.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications
