About the Position: Performs a wide range of duties associated with the receipt, storage, and issue of various classes of supplies and equipment. Ensures proper establishment and maintenance of accountability during the receipt, storage, and issue of same.

Duties

Receives and transfers petroleum products from commercial tank trucks to storage tank. Checks receiving documents on incoming shipments for proper identification of fuel and designation of shipment. Identifies and checks gages, tanks for amount of fuel and water content, takes and observes fuel samples from each compartment of tank to determine the grade of fuel and sediment content of fuel. Adheres to strict quality control program by correctly identifying and storing all petroleum products. Draws samples from storage tanks of fuel, oil, and water to be submitted to the laboratory for analysis. Reviews and evaluates special and recurring logistical requirements. Determines capability to meet fuel requirements during mobilizations, emergencies and deployments, and for transient units during training exercises.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid state Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B with HAZMAT and Tanker endorsement as it is required for all assigned equipment.
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license, Government driver's license, and operator's license or certification.
  • This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Abuse Testing program. Incumbent is required to sign DA form 5019-R, “Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions identified as critical under the drug abuse testing program”.
  • Applicant and incumbent required to submit to drug testing.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Fuel Distribution System Worker (Motor Vehicle Operator)~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Fuel Distribution System Worker (Motor Vehicle Operator) tasks. I am skilled in measuring fuel levels in tanks and conducting physical inventories of all fuels, oils, and related products by measuring with gauge stick and or tape. I can select and open the correct valves so that fuel shipment can be pumped or drained into storage tank. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element)Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc.Dexterity and SafetyKnowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.Operation of Equipment and MachineryTechnical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)Use of Measuring Instruments Physical Effort: Work requires considerable standing, walking, bending, working in awkward conditions, and climbing on tanks and heavy mobile equipment. Exerts light to moderate physical effort while performing operations such as connecting hoses and opening valves. Performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May be required to work at a rapid pace for long periods of time. Frequently lifts and carries supplies, materials and equipment that weigh over 70 pounds. Working Conditions: Much of the work is done outside in all kinds of weather, around moving parts and vehicles. There is some danger of fire, exposure to toxic fumes, excessive noise, vibration, and falls from the top of vehicles. Tanks and pumps are equipped with hose that collect fumes before they escape into the air. Work may be dirty, dusty and greasy. Frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, and bruises, injury from falling objects, collisions, shifting load, and overturning.
