Duties

If selected for this position, you will serve as an Intelligence Specialist to detect, deter, and prevent acts of terrorism and promote national security through intelligence and information analysis. This purpose is accomplished by managing the district's intelligence program and, leading and providing intelligence support for national security cases in a district with among the highest and immediate security concerns and intelligence interests. The incumbent is recognized as an expert in intelligence research, leads and coordinates all intelligence related matters in the United States Attorney's Office (USAO), including case-related work, regularly represents the USAO with outside intelligence agencies, and is called upon to provide expert assistance to other entities and USAOs regarding highly specialized problems or projects related to intelligence, national security and broader criminal case matters. Typical work assignments will include: Planning, monitoring, and managing critical intelligence program activities in support of all national security and counter-terrorism, criminal and civil initiatives for the USAO. Coordinating on critical intelligence issues with the Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) and Federal Intelligence Group (FIG). Performing intelligence research, activities and related case work to assist the USAO in meeting counterterrorism, criminal, and asset forfeiture objectives. Serve as spokesperson for the USAO before a wide range of intelligence organizations and law enforcement agencies. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Requirements

  • You must be a United States Citizen or National.
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation
  • You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
  • If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
  • You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.

Qualifications

GS-12: Applicants must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: providing advisory services to other intelligence analysts, law enforcement agencies, and other entities at the federal, state, and local levels; utilizing a variety of law enforcement and intelligence databases to monitor and conduct research activities and conducting analyses, identifying relevant data sources, and extracting and validating data; providing intelligence support for investigations and prosecutions as they relate to national security matters and broader criminal case support; or preparing comprehensive reports elaborating on findings and projections. GS-13: Applicants must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: planning and undertaking critical intelligence research work such as: developing guidelines and advising other intelligence analysts at the federal, state, and local levels on intelligence topics, administering principles, techniques, and methodologies of intelligence research to conduct research and analysis activities; conducting functions related to national intelligence agencies and law enforcement communities; providing intelligence support for investigations and prosecutions as they relate to national security matters and broader criminal case support; analyzing techniques and practices to develop and maintain working relationships with a variety of groups and organizations, or preparing a range of written products such as formal reports, information bullets, and presentations. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
