This National Guard position is for a INDUSTRIAL HYGIENIST (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1719P01 and is part of the FL 125th FW, National Guard.
Duties
As an Industrial Hygienist, GS-0690-11, you will ensure statutory and regulatory compliance with applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Air Force Occupational Safety and health (AFOSH) directives and regulations. Acts as the technical expert and advisor to Wing leadership on all issues pertaining to the above directives. Serves as an expert advisor concerning OSHA, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), and US Air Force on installation health matters such as, health hazard identification, evaluation and abatement; workplace surveillance, medical-legal documentation, asbestos abatement, lead based paint, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, Thermo Luminescent Dosimetry (TLD), air emissions, drinking water, wastewater discharges, hazardous wastes, Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) activities, pesticide use, environmental noise, (o) environmental assessment, environmental sampling, and other environmental monitoring. Serves as an installation expert regarding Nuclear Biological and Chemical readiness issues.

Qualifications
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709" and is open to Category 1: All permanent/indefinite (T32 and T5) technicians employed by the agency Category 3: All current military members of the Florida National Guard; and Category 4: All individuals who qualify for membership in the Florida National Guard and are willing to become T32 Dual Status technicians. First consideration will be given to Category 1.
PCS: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard.
Military Grades: Officer, Enlisted- E5 thru O3

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have a degree in industrial hygiene; or a branch of engineering, physical science, or life science that included 12 semester hours in chemistry, including organic chemistry, and 18 additional semester hours of courses in any combination of chemistry, physics, engineering, health physics, environmental health, biostatistics, biology, physiology, toxicology, epidemiology, or industrial hygiene.
Courses in the history or teaching of chemistry are not acceptable.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:GS-11 Musthave at least one year of specialized experiences at the GS-09 level or the equivalent which provides knowledge and/or experience that may have been obtained in field, laboratory, engineering, or other environment if the work provided a means of obtaining a professional knowledge of the theory and application of the principles of industrial hygiene and closely related sciences such as physics and engineering controls; such work must have involved experience in all of the following areas: the acquisition of quantitative and qualitative data, and the measurement of exposures for a variety of chemical, physical, and biological stresses; the analysis of the data acquired and the prediction of probable effects of exposures on the health and well-being of workers; and the selection and recommendation of appropriate controls, including management, medical, engineering, education or training, and personal protective equipment.
Education
EDUCATION:
Must have at least a Bachelor's Degree: industrial hygiene; or a branch of engineering, physical science, or life science that included 12 semester hours in chemistry, including organic chemistry, and 18 additional semester hours of courses in any combination of chemistry, physics, engineering, health physics, environmental health, biostatistics, biology, physiology, toxicology, epidemiology, or industrial hygiene. Courses in the history or teaching of chemistry are not acceptable.
Or
Combination of education and experience -- at least 12 semester hours of course work in chemistry, including organic chemistry, and 18 additional semester hours as specified in 1. above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
Evaluation of Education: All science or engineering courses offered in fulfillment of the above requirements must be acceptable for credit toward the completion of a standard 4-year professional curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in science or engineering at an accredited college or university.
