About the Position: Serve as the Substance Abuse (ASAP) Risk Reduction Program Coordinator (RRPC) responsible for developing, implementing, coordinating, and monitoring all aspects for the installation Risk.

Duties

Responsible for the overall planning, developing, coordinating, implementing, standardizations, and promoting of a comprehensive and effective program aimed at the reduction of Soldier and civilian high risk behaviors. Serve as the Resilience and Risk Reduction Program Coordinator. Serve as the staff consultant on all aspects of the Resilience, Risk Reduction and Suicide Prevention Program and training and is the focal point. Perform duties as the Resilience and Risk Program Coordinator. Plan and coordinate efforts of committees tasked with R3/SSP oversight. Coordinate with internal and external organizations to share information, trends, best practices, lessons learned, and/ or training developments. Brief commands on unit compliance with established training objectives related to suicide prevention. Administer the suicide prevention program for both military and civilian members for the Presidio of Monterey. Recommend policy procedures and methodology to commanders to assist in reducing high risk behaviors. Analyze reports and statistical data to develop best practices and lessons learned to mitigate high risk behaviors.

Basic Requirement for ASAP Specialist (RRP/SPPM) Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. Behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field that included at least 24 semester hours of course work in behavioral or social sciences. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes coordinating a social services program (such as suicide prevention, substance abuse or family programs); provide counseling to employees, managers, organizations and/or families on suicide prevention or other social service topics; arrange and/or provide technical briefings, orientations, training, or workshops; and track and report information using a variety of automated systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as behavioral science, counseling, counseling psychology, or sociology. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.). OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education and TrainingOral CommunicationPlanning and Evaluating Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
