About the Position: serves as the Director of Emergency Services working under the general supervision of the Deputy to the Garrison Commander.
Duties
Perform a wide range of managerial tasks in planning, managing, directing and evaluating law enforcement operations with authority to make decisions and commit to a course of action
Plan, organize and administer programs including fire prevention and protection, fire response forces, law enforcement, force protection and emergency services that support garrison and mission commanders.
Coordinate force protection measures within the region
Provide functional oversight of mutual aid agreements with the civilian communities for consequence management operations during natural or man-made disasters.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must obtain and maintain a SECRET Security Clearance.
- Temporary Duty travel (TDY) may be required up to 10%.
- Required to report for duty during inclement weather, Natural Disasters, and other emergency situations as directed by the Commander.
- May be required to remain on duty after the official shift ends, i.e., mandatory overtime, irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends, subject to recall to duty
- Incumbent must maintain a functioning telephone to aid in contact during recall/emergency situations.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing a law enforcement, fire protection and physical security programs for an installation or equivalent; developing innovative techniques for providing law enforcement, fire protection, and physical security support to an installation or equivalent; providing guidance and advice to installation leadership on emergency services This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
