You will serve as a INTERDISCIPLINARY-SOCIAL WORKER/PSYCHOLOGIST in the MANPOWER AND RESERVE AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT of MCAS CHERRY POINT.

Duties

You will perform a variety of professional tasks related to substance use disorder service planning, community referrals and consultations, and in-service training. You will conduct screenings, thorough intake, comprehensive assessment, nonmedical counseling, and consultation services. You will explore, and analyze factors influencing personality development and family structure in relation to the development of symptomatic behavior patterns and complicated interpersonal problems. You will use a wide variety of techniques for the resolution of personal, social, or environmental difficulties related to substance use disorders. You will be required as a pre-licensed clinical staff a minimum of weekly supervision with a supervision plan in place and do not work as the sole clinical provider in the program. You will use the designated case management system in accordance with policy to maintain client clinical record.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position requires Certification in substance abuse (Alcohol and Drug Counselor II or state equivalent) is required at time of hire.
  • Must be working towards licensure at the independent level and obtain in 36 months or less. Must provide current documentation of provisional license from granting state

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: experience in alcohol and drug abuse/dependence screening/assessment, treatment & case management programs. Develops and implements a comprehensive substance abuse prevention plan. Provides direct non-medical services using a wide variety of techniques. Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess

0180:
Degree: major or equivalent in psychology for all specializations except clinical psychology and counseling psychology. These two specializations have additional educational requirements, as stated below:
  • Clinical psychology: For positions at grades GS-11 and above, satisfactory completion of all the requirements for the doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology is required.
  • Counseling psychology: For positions at grades GS-9 and above, satisfactory completion of 2 full academic years of graduate study directly related to professional work in counseling psychology, or satisfactory completion in an accredited educational institution of all the requirements for a master's degree directly related to counseling psychology is required.

0185:
Degree: social work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
Master's degree with practicum: Applicants who complete all of the requirements for a master's degree in social work that included a practicum are eligible for GS-9.
