Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-07. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform these duties and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
Assist in researching laws, regulations, operating instructions, and functional and program documents to acquire knowledge of the IRS activity being audited.
Assist in the verification of reports against source accounts and records to determine data reliability and accuracy of computations.
Assist in the verification of recorded transactions and account balances.
Assist in tracing items through accounts and from records to source documents.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
To be qualified for this position at the GS-04 level, you must have completed 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an Associate's Degree.
Education
APPLICANT MUST BE PURSUING A:
Degree in auditing; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting;
OR
Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following:
A certificate as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination; or
Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting, e.g., 15 semester hours.
The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
