About the Position: Serves as Chief, Tribal and Cultural Resources Section of the Omaha District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). Is responsible for planning, budgeting, and directing all functions of the Tribal and Cultural Resources Section. Interprets tribal trust responsibilities and federal historic preservation laws policy and regulations.

Duties

Provides coordination and resolution of tribal policy consultation, tribal relationships and cultural resources management, compliance issues, and conflicts regarding Federal, state, tribal laws, regulations, and rules. Coordinates all required cultural compliance and maintains liaison with offices, parks, councils, groups and agencies. Promotes and implements higher headquarters' tribal stewardship and cultural resources compliance policies directives and guidance by consulting and coordinating with agencies. Responsible for all functional activities of a team of archeologists and Tribal Consultants. Reviews Section progress and productivity, approves schedules, and ensures timely completion of work assignments.

Requirements

  • May be required to perform travel/temporary duty (TDY) 25% of the time.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementLeadershipTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
