The incumbent manages the contracted content development of outdoor exhibits, including interpretive and VIS (informational) waysides. . Interpretive or informational waysides may include complex panel layouts, text, maps, tactile elements, or audio messages presented at multiple sites throughout a park. Duties

The major duties of the Wayside Exhibit Planner position include, but are not limited to the following: Completes surveys of existing environments and landscapes; completes site survey reports. Conceptualizes and plans exterior or outdoor wayside exhibit packages and manages the planning and development of a full-range of exterior wayside projects. Manages the contracted content development of outdoor exhibits, including interpretive and informational waysides. Ensures projects comply with programmatic and physical accessibility standards. Coordinates with project teams and stakeholders to establish mutually agreed upon interpretive media solutions Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.

Qualifications

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-10/29/2024-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience. To qualify for the Wayside Exhibit Planner position at the GS-09 grade level, you must meet the following minimum qualifications by the closing date of this announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience must include all of: (1) Assists in planning exterior exhibit panels; (2) Ability to communicate verbal concepts in visual form that is understandable by diverse audiences. (3) Understanding of how wayside exhibits are used in a within a natural or historic landscape to enhance a visitor's experience. You must include your resume with hours worked per week annotated. -OR- EDUCATION: -Successful completion of at least master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. You must include transcripts -OR- Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. When education and experience are combined, they must total 100%. You must include your resume with hours worked per week annotated, as well as transcripts. SELECTIVE FACTOR: This position is responsible for the planning, development, and contract administration of interpretive outdoor wayside exhibits., and is required. Candidates must meet the below selective factor to be eligible at the GS-11 and GS-12 levels. Candidates who do not meet this requirement by close of this announcement will receive no further consideration for the GS-11 or GS-12 levels. However, they may still be considered for the GS-09 grade level. Selective Factor - I have direct experience within the last five years with the planning, development, and assisting with contract administration of multiple outdoor wayside exhibits that are thematically linked to provide interpretation, information, orientation, to outdoor landscapes. -AND- To qualify for the Wayside Exhibit Planner position at the GS-11 grade level, you must also meet the following minimum qualifications by the closing date of this announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience must include all of(1) Assists in planning wayside exhibit packages with graphic panel layouts including, photo's illustrations, text, maps, presented at multiple sites throughout a park; (2) Understanding of how wayside exhibits are used in a park setting to enhance a visitor's experience, complement the other media and work within a natural or historic landscape; (3) Understands how to distill and communicate concepts in graphic, tactile, and written form that is understandable by diverse audiences; (4) Experience managing multi-year contracts. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. You must include transcripts. -OR- Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. When education and experience are combined, they must total 100%. You must include your resume with hours worked per week annotated, as well as transcripts. To qualify for the Wayside Exhibit Planner position at the GS-12 grade level, you must also meet the following minimum qualifications by the closing date of this announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience must include all of:(1) Skill and ability in planning wayside exhibit packages with complex panel layouts including, photo's, illustrations, text, maps, tactile elements, or audio messages presented at multiple sites throughout a park; (2) Knowledge of how wayside exhibits are used in a park setting to enhance a visitor's experience, complement the other media and work within a natural or historic landscape; (3) Ability to distill and communicate concepts in graphic, tactile, and written form that is understandable by diverse audiences; (4) Experience managing multi-year media contracts. . There is no substitution of education for experience at the grade level(s) of this announcement. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as "varies". Experience listed as full-time will be credited at 40 hours per week.

Education

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
