About the position: This position will be assigned to the Arts & Crafts Center on Keesler AFB, MS. This position is considered regular part time. You are guaranteed 20 hours, however you could work up to 40 hours per week. As a regular part time employee, you are eligible to earn annual leave, sick leave, and sign up for benefits, to include health/life insurance, 401k, and NAF retirement.

Duties

Executes various types of illustration and graphic art in high-speed environment through use of desktop graphic design software. Reviews customer requests to determine delivery date, type of materials needed and image position. Works independently during day-to-day operations of shop and checks own work for accuracy and quality. Operates a computer workstation to receive and convert job order data into formats suitable for production. Designs and prints a variety of work including: signs, acrylics, plaques, sublimated mugs, metal and plastic plates, vinyl designs, embroidery images etc. Operates engraving machines, sublimation printers, embroidery machines, vinyl cutters, heat presses, assorted cutters and additional equipment and tools associated with the service. Determines any special set-up requirements and selects best output method and equipment for the job. On a daily basis uses computer based design programs such as Corel Draw, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Photoshop, Design Shop and Cut Studio. Familiar with the technical characteristics, advantages and limitations of the production process like mass scale printing, copying, photo editing, scanning, etc. Answers the phone, prepares and displays samples and other shop merchandise. Schedules work to be completed in a timely manner and ensures deadlines are met. Ensures material required is available, or on order. Inventories merchandise upon receipt and monthly. Researches catalogs for new items and customer driven merchandise. Assists with resolving inventory variances and identifies damaged merchandise for replacement. Utilizes comprehensive knowledge of engraving, vinyl, and embroidery equipment and operations to resolve problems. Performs minor maintenance on machines. Calls technical support when extra help is needed and to identify parts needed for replacement. Ensures cleanliness of work area. Operates a cash register. Creates and maintains customer and user accounts and ensures customer payments are made. Follows established safety procedures. Maintains equipment in peak operating condition by managing system resources. Ensures all shop equipment is operational. Performs other related duties as assigned. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Experience in art, graphics and/or layout required. Experience in Corel Studio and Microsoft Office skills are preferred. Must use English and metric measurements. Must be able to read, write and speak English and do basic arithmetic. Must possess written communication skills and the ability to perform basic math computations to process paperwork and perform physical inventories. Must be able to follow written and oral instructions. A clear speaking voice is required. Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. without assistance. Must be able to work under short deadlines and shifting priorities while maintaining a courteous and professional attitude when helping customers. Subject to cuts, burns, bruises, loud noises, dust particles, chemicals and adhesives. Subject to uncommon work schedule.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
