Serves as a Lead Engineering Technician within the FAA Logistics Center, Products Services Group. This position has quasi-supervisory duties, as such; approves emergency and short-term leave (up to three days), provides input regarding employee performance, conduct, and disciplinary issues. Is considered a technical expert within the organization for the assigned system or specialty area.

Duties

Performs work of broad scope and complexity. Provides the highest organizational level of technical support associated with analyzing, designing, developing, installing, repairing, fabricating, maintaining, modifying, or evaluating the most complex systems for which the FAA is responsible. Applies broad experience and comprehensive technical knowledge of assigned disciplines and specialties, an understanding of new technologies and methods, and FAA policies and programs.

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must submit an SF50 (See Required Documents).
  • Successful completion of a security investigation may be required.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Selectee must pass a pre-employment physical prior to appointment.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position at the FV-I (FG/GS-13) level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-H (FG/GS-12). Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.Specialized Experience includes: experience performing installations, maintenance, operation, and testing duties on complex projects or systems, e.g., replacement of system components or facility maintenance across a large geographical area i.e. the Continental United States (CONUS); coordinating complex projects with internal team members and external contacts; reviewing parts of project designs done by others, and written specifications to prevent any possible conflicts with design areas (structural, mechanical, basic electrical, etc.), specifications, or scheduling.ANDPhysical Requirements: You must be able to perform efficiently the essential functions of the position without hazard to yourself or others. Selectee must pass a pre-employment physical prior to appointment.Applicants should include examples of specialized experience in their work history. Qualifications must be met by the closing date of the announcement.
