You will serve as a MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR in the SOUTHWEST REGION FLEETTRANSPORTATION DICISION of MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON.

Duties

You will operate gasoline or diesel-powered trucks or truck tractors with trailer or semi-trailer coupled by use of a turntable (fifth wheel) or pintle/pivot hook. You will drive vehicles either on a specific basis or upon regularly established schedules and routes to transport material and equipment. You will load and unload materials or direct others in this task. You will keep trip records or logs. You will report any defects in vehicle operations, accidents, damages, or traffic violations. You will make operational inspections of vehicles for loose parts, damaged or worn tires, proper air pressure in tires, water in radiator, proper oil level, and battery condition.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition
  • You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid Class A Commercial Driver’s license. You must qualify for and have T, P, and X endorsements within 30 days of date of employment.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases
  • Must be willing and able to work a Shift Work schedule. A Shift Work schedule describes work performed with varying and/or rotating shifts.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift
  • Must be willing and able to lift and/or carry loads/items up to 40 pounds in weight.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION performing common tasks including: Driving vehicles on a specific basis or upon regularly scheduled routes to transport material and equipment; Maintaining trip logs; and Loading and unloading materials.
