Duties

Inspects, tests, certifies, repairs, assembles and maintains ALSE to include aircraft/aircrew electronic communications equipment, and aircraft-oxygen related items, aircraft modular survival system, life preservers, ETC. Instructs crewmembers in all categories of ALSE. Certifies initial and continuation training of aircrew and other personnel. Complies with safety, fire, security, and housekeeping regulations. Supervises, instructs, trains and certifies traditional Guard members on all facets of the aircrew life support career field; performs task evaluations and documents OJT records. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. Prepares Annual Budget analysis and projections for ALSE shop operations. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

  • This position is INDEFINITE NTE 24 months, with possible extension up to 60 months, and permanent potential.

Qualifications

MILITARY GRADES: E4 THROUGH E8, WO1 THROUGH CW3 COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENTS: 153 The policy to have a compatible MOS/AFSC has been suspended. When reinstated, you will have one year to meet the qualifications of this position or meet the requirements in the guidance set by NGB. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the applicant's knowledge of materials and equipment used in the line of work (helmets, torso harness assemblies, parachutes, survival equipment). Ability to understand written instructions and to use reference materials and manuals SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which has demonstrated knowledge of aviation life support equipment. Experience reading and interpreting military manuals. Experience in supply procedures and property accountability. Experience collecting information and presenting it to various sized groups. Experience in planning a functional shop maintenance program is essential. Specialized Experience Requirements for NGB Federal Wage System Positions for claiming civilian job experience: Creditable experience must have been performed at least 30 consecutive days and be properly documented. Experience in the same line of work can only be credited on the basis of a regular 40-hour workweek. Hours per week MUST be documented on resume to receive any credit.
