You will serve as a HAZARDOUS MATERIALS HANDLER in the Hazardous Waste Management Branch (HWMB) of MARINE CORPS AIR GROUND COMBAT CTR.
Duties
You will perform duties in identifying, collecting, transporting, segregation and processing or recycling of hazardous waste and hazardous material.
You will inspect hazardous waste Satellite Accumulation Areas (SAA's), collect, transport, sort, segregate, containerize, label, store, treat, and recycle hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
You will ensure the safe handling and storage of hazardous material.
You will visually examine material for acceptance as a hazardous waste, excluded recyclable, reusable, or solid waste.
You will perform field sampling tests (e.g., pH, water content, fuel content, chlorinated solvents) to determine the labeling, packaging, storage, or treatment of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
You will operate one or more of the following types of vehicles; platform trucks, stake bed trucks, dump trucks, extended boom forklift, rough terrain forklifts, multi-chamber vacuum truck, with a gross vehicle weight over 26,000 pounds.
You will operate hazardous waste sorting, recycling and treatment equipment.
You will perform cleanup of incidental and major releases of known hazardous substances independently and with other staff and organizations.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You must be willing and able to lift and/or carry loads/items up to 80 pounds in weight.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain all Applicable license(s), certificates and or authorizations needed to operate all assigned garrison mobile equipment, material handling equipment and specialty equipment resident.
- This position is designated NONSENSITIVE. The applicant must complete a NACI on SF 85. Failure to obtain a favorable Suitability Determination is grounds for removal.
Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION - I have the ability to perform common tasks of a HAZARDOUS MATERIALS HANDLER including identifying, collecting, transporting and segregating hazardous waste and hazardous material. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
