You will serve as an ORDNANCE MAINTENANCE MANAGER in the ORDNANCE MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT (283) SECOND SUBDIVISION of NMCLANT ORDMAINT.

Duties

You will manage the efficient operation of all tasks assigned to the Ordnance Maintenance Division. You will manage the Detachment’s Ordnance Maintenance Facilities (for a variety of Missiles, Torpedoes etc…). You will provide first level supervision to subordinate civilian and military supervisors and non-supervisory staff positions. You will direct, coordinate, or oversee work. You will hear and resolve group grievances or serious employee complaints. You will provide ordnance management for Fleet and shore stations. You will provide quality and responsive ordnance material handling, technical, and material support to the fleet. You will provide support in the areas of operating explosives ordnance out loading and transshipment facilities. You will be responsible for Depot level repair and maintenance for all associated shipping/storage containers.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a Secret personnel clearance with a National Agency Check and Credit Check (NACLC). NACLC reinvestigation is required every 5 years.
  • You will be subject to random polygraph examination, which will be limited to counterintelligence and/or counterespionage questions.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying knowledge of policy, financial, administrative requirements and operation problems of an ordnance maintenance program. Experience managing an ordnance maintenance division operation, and applying knowledge of the governing publications and computer systems used to manage the operations and facilities. Experience demonstrating positive leadership, providing directions to ensure personnel works together as a team towards a common goal, while applying knowledge of labor and human relations. Experience applying knowledge of electronics testing procedures/criteria for guided missiles, technology, production equipment and processes, industrial management, ordnance operations, explosives and occupational safety and production planning and scheduling systems.
