You will serve as an INSPECTOR in the OFFICE OF INSPECTOR GENERAL of FIT/COMMUNITY MANAGEMENT.

Duties

You will use negotiation techniques when dealing with situations. You will use various financial database and programs to verify usage of funds and allocations. You will make recommendations to management for corrective actions that will facilitate process and internal control improvements. You will brief high ranking officials to report on inspection findings and recommendations. You will use fact-finding methods or analysis to resolve issues involving contradictory or inconclusive data. You will prepare formal reports by providing sufficient evidence to demonstrate the accuracy and reasonableness of findings and recommendations.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • The employee is required to possess inspector certification by completion of a NAVINSGEN-approved course, and to retain certification by pursuing continuous professional education as outlined in the NAVINSGEN training requirements.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Analyzing and reviewing inspection results to determine compliance with applicable standards, along with root causes for non-compliance and provide sound recommendations to management for correction actions, as required; 2) Applying quantitative and qualitative methods, measurement, fact finding, and inspection techniques to provide line managers with objectively based information for making decisions on the administrative and programmatic aspects of agency assignments; 3) Utilizing laws, rules, and regulations as they apply to extravagant, careless, or needless expenditure of government funds or the consumption or misuse of government property or resources, resulting from deficient practices, systems, controls, or decisions to identify and eliminate fraud, waste, mismanagement and inefficiencies; 4) Preparing and reviewing inspection reports to ensure the quality and the methodology inspections were performed to meet all standards and directives, as required; and 5) Briefing highly sensitive issues to the Inspector General and/or Deputy Inspector General, as appropriate Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management web site: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=List-by-Occupational-Series Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
