You will serve as a GENERAL INVESTIGATOR in the Naval Inspector General Senior Official Investigations Division of OFFNAVINSGEN WASHINGTON DC.

Duties

You will screen, process and investigate all allegations and complaints of senior official misconduct, to include required conditions and applicable statutes, directives and instructions. You will interview, follow leads, research records, reconstruct events, and prepare reports. You will analyze available information, identify areas of weakness in DON as they relate to integrity and efficiency, and provide appropriate recommendations for improvement.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-13) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying knowledge of regulations and extensive experience as a professional investigator to conduct and manage sensitive and complex hotline and military whistleblower reprisal investigations, conducting credibility determinations and hotline and military whistleblower reprisal investigations; Experience applying knowledge of CIGIE investigative principles, techniques, methods and procedures, as well as Federal laws, rules of evidence regulations and policy relating to administrative investigations; Experience analyzing complaints of fraud, waste, abuse, and mismanagement to determine possible violation of military, federal law, or regulation; AND Experience conducting interviews and interrogations of witnesses and subjects of investigation and write reports of investigation that provide detailed and clear analysis and present persuasive conclusions.
