Duties

As a Cyber Operations Officer, at full performance level, you will perform the following duties: Assists the Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) investigative team in the planning and execution of law enforcement investigative projects; Provides support in criminal investigations through computer network operations activities, undercover computer network architecture and management, computer forensics, computer network intrusion response and/or computer programming activities; Works under statutory authority and the legal authority of court orders, search warrants and other legal processes to engage in duties related to investigative support; Prepares detailed written reports outlining milestones for key stakeholders; and Liaises with local, state, federal, and foreign component partners on cyber related initiatives.

Requirements

  • Probationary Period: This is a full-time permanent position (Career/Career-Conditional appointment). Upon appointment to this position, you may be required to serve a one-year probationary period.

You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-11 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Performing analysis of computer network events in support of law enforcement investigations; Supporting criminal investigations by identifying data used in criminal acts; Utilizing computer forensic tools and techniques for data recovery; Demonstrating knowledge of computer network systems to include deploying technical solutions; and Preparing written reports to document findings from computer forensic and technical analysis. You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Performing detailed analysis of computer network events in support of law enforcement investigations; Supporting criminal investigations by identifying data used in criminal acts; Utilizing computer forensic tools and techniques for data recovery; Demonstrating expert knowledge of computer network systems, including developing and deploying technical solutions; and Preparing detailed written reports to document findings from computer forensic and technical analysis.
