This position serves as the Administrative Officer for the Police Service within the Washington DC VA Medical Center VA Health Care System.
Duties
Major duties and responsibilities include:
Personnel Administration and Management
Leads in administering programs concerning equal opportunity, merit promotion, employee/labor-management relations and position management
Space management
Approving supply orders and resource management
Budgeting/Financial Management
Maintains awareness of available resources and makes recommendations regarding needs and distribution
Gathering and analyzing budget needs
Maintains internal controls for fiscal management
Assembles and compiles budget information
Procurement/Contracting
Manages procurement and contracting for the service
Prepares procurement requests and evaluates proposals for work
Initiates and prepares contracts
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4pm

Qualifications
Experience and/or Education:
Experience: Applicants must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS- 07 grade level that has equipped them with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the positions. Qualifying examples of specialized experience include:
Assures recruitment and retention are within approved ceilings.
Administers personnel administration such as equal opportunity, staffing, employee/labor management relations or position management.
Adapts analytical techniques and evaluation criteria to measure and improve program effectiveness and/or productivity.
Handles conflict and problems with dealing with customers constructively.
Prepares and/or reviews purchase orders for supplies and no-expendable property such as equipment.
Analyzes budget needs for a department or office.
Formulates annual budget for supplies, equipment and/or other general operating expenses.
OR,
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.B. or J.D., if related
