About the position: This position will be assigned to the Mountain Home AFB Library located in Bldg 2610.
This position is considered Regular Part-Time. You are guaranteed 20 hours per week, however you may work up to 40 hours per week.
As a Regular Part-Time employee, you are eligible to sign up for benefits, to include Health/Dental and Life Insurance, 401K and NAF retirement.
Duties
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for all circulation service operations. Assists in the training of new library aides and technicians on circulation tasks. Independently performs circulation and registration duties by implementing established procedures for circulation functions.
Maintains automated and/or manual circulation files to include all charged-out materials, user database files, registration files, reserves, document delivery, interlibrary loans, lost items, and overdues. Implements established procedures for overdue materials. Makes arrangements with customers for replacement of lost or damaged items, following relevant AFis and local guidance. Using established procedures, maintains reserve and interlibrary loan services and performs follow-up to ensure all requests are accurately fulfilled. Maintains and compiles library statistics on circulation, attendance, reference questions, and other required and requested data. Provides ready reference services to library customers by locating required information using standard library reference tools, passing more difficult requests to the appropriate staff member. Explains the library classification scheme and general management of library resources to customers. Explains library rules, regulations, circulation procedures, and entitlements to library users. Assists library users with library equipment. Assists the supervisory librarian in developing and implementing programs and the marketing and publicity of library services and events. Prepares displays. Recommends titles for possible inclusion in the collection. Utilizes the Integrated Library System (ILS), online databases, and other Internet resources to prepare subject bibliographies. Downloads cataloging data for materials into the on-line public access catalog system to make the records accessible to library users. Ensures catalog records are accurate and current. Using established procedures, prepares library materials in a variety of formats for use by library customers. Logs in periodicals and checks for missing issues. Assists in the annual inventory of library materials. Using established procedures identifies and processes items for discard. Performs routine clerical tasks. Picks up, sorts, and distributes library mail. Uses varied and advanced functions of computer software to prepare, format, modify, edit, email and print a variety of letters, reports, memos, and other documents. Assists with the technical services process as needed. Assists in conducting tours and group orientations. Refers difficult questions/problems concerning work processes to the appropriate staff member.

Qualifying Experience:
Must have specialized experience in a library that provided specific knowledge of library rules, policies, and procedures for
circulation and technical service. Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Must have experience or training that demonstrates the ability to perform standard computer skills. Must have experience in a library that provides the applicant with general knowledge of standard library rules, policies, and procedures in circulation services. Must have typing experience. Must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Must be able to reach up to 72 inches with or without the assistance of a step stool. Must possess skill applying standard customer service practices when dealing with the public. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
