This position is located in the Medical Records Department in a Medical Center and Hospital that provides a wide variety of health care services in the areas of: General Surgery, Orthopedic, Pediatric, OB/GYN, Intensive Care, Newborn Nursey, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, EENT, Optometry, Dentistry, Walk-in/Urgent Care, Home Health Care, Community Based School Health Clinics, and variety of specialty clinics, such as Cardiology, Dermatology, Nephrology and Neurology.
Duties
Serves as the EHR HIM Liaison for users of clinical and administrative systems.
Performs initial and periodic assessments and conducts ongoing compliance monitoring activities in coordination with operational assessments.
Retracts, reassigns, amend notes, unlock visits, monitors unsigned reports, consultations and notifications within the EHR system.
Identify errors, inconsistencies, discrepancies and/or trends and discusses with the appropriate staff, and advises modifications to meet requirements.
Reviews RPMS site parameters for accuracy and completeness. Monitors and troubleshoots new patches and software product; participates in testing of software problems and requesting enhancements.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
GS-09: One (1) year of specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-08 grade level that equipped me with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples include: Extensive knowledge of Medical Records theory, principles, techniques, concepts and policies to analyze the medical record and participate in performance improvement activities. Extensive knowledge of medico-legal aspects of medical records/health information management. Extensive skills operating electronic medical records. Knowledge of medical coding classification systems, mapping and references both outpatient and inpatient (such as the international Classification of Diseases (ICD), Diagnostic Related Group (DRGs). Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS). Current Procedural Terminology (CPT). Current Dental Terminology (CDT), and Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM). Knowledge of Privacy Act of 1974 and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations and requirements. Skilled in data abstraction, collection and able to generate automated computerized reports to compile and organize information for reporting and presentations. Knowledge and understanding of medical terminology, accepted medical abbreviations, pharmaceutical terms, anatomy and physiology and major diseases.
Specialized Experience: Knowledge of medical coding classification systems, mapping and reference both outpatient and inpatient (such as the international Classification of Diseases (ICD), Diagnostic Related Group (DRGs), Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS), Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), Current Dental Terminology (CDT), and Diagnostic and generate automated computerized reports to compile and organize information for reporting and presentations. Knowledge and understanding of medical terminology, accepted medical abbreviations, pharmaceutical terms, anatomy and physiology and major diseases.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
