About the Position: Serves as an Installation Manager within Surface Deployment and Distribution. Incumbent is responsible for advising, assisting, and representing the organization in all areas of Installation management and directs staff performing Installation support functions.
Duties
Conduct oversight of all Installation support activities which include public works, facilities maintenance, logistics, supply and maintenance, emergency services, law enforcement and fire, and Installation Safety programs.
Advise, assist and represent the organization in all areas of installation management and support functions
Direct the staff that performs the installation support functions to oversee program objectives
Oversee short, mid and long-range budgetary planning of installation support activities
Evaluate operations to ensure support functions are following objectives and regulations
Keep installation leaders and Commander apprised on installation activity matters
Prepare and integrate the implementation of command installation policies and procedures to support the Command's mission
Plan, assign and evaluate work accomplished by subordinates
Exercise the authority and responsibility for coordinating and tasking supervisors, program managers, directors, and tenant organizations regarding Installation operational matters.
Monitor and evaluate Installation programs and operations to ensure plans and support functions are followed to meet Installation objectives, goals, and regulations.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- A one-year supervisory probationary period may be required
- This position is designated as Key: In the event of a crisis situation, the incumbent, or designated alternate, must continue to perform the Key duties until relieved by proper authority.
- Incumbent may be required to travel up to 15% to perform duties/attend training.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Federal service that provided the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities coordinating support functions performed by the installation staff, evaluating operations to ensure support functions are following requirements and regulations. Providing logistical advice in support activities to include public works, facilities engineering, and logistics of supply and maintenance functions, emergency services and information technology. Recommending and allotting resources among multiple projects. Monitoring contracts and contractors' performance. Assisting with planning and developing command installation policies and procedures to support the Command's mission and programs. Preparing reports of evaluations and providing recommendations for the installation Commander. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
