You will serve as a Technical Writer-Editor (Doctrine) in the Training Command of TRAINING AND EDUCATION COMMAND. Initial consideration for this announcement is limited to the number of applications listed at the top of this announcement. Duties

You will prepare and coordinate assigned doctrinal materials. You will prepare briefings and status reports on doctrinal products being researched and developed. You will prepare and present briefings and training based on research and study findings. You will participate on teams formed to conduct studies or to propose doctrinal concepts. You will participate in conferences and doctrinal exchanges.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final SECRET security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Developing new and existing doctrine and training publications; performing research and analysis on related topics for technical support; and organizing and conducting meetings, conferences, and working groups. Education

BASIC EDUCATION:

Undergraduate and Graduate Education:
Must have included a total of 15 semester hours in an appropriate scientific, technical, or social science field(s), and at least one course above the introductory level in the field(s) covered by the position. For technical manuals and specifications writers or editors, the equivalent of 15 semester hours may have been gained through vocational or educational training above the high school level at a public, private, or Armed Forces school.
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.M., if related
