The primary purpose of this position is to repair, install, and modify electronic systems including computers and automated systems integrated with electronic, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic systems in buildings.
Duties
Troubleshoots new and existing electronic systems, components or subassemblies to determine nature of malfunction and corrective action required
Performs the final tuning, alignment, or calibration of electronic systems, components, or subassemblies
Installs, adjusts, calibrates, maintains, repairs or replaces electronic systems, components, computers, communication controller's peripheral devices, field interface devices or sub-systems (circuit boards, power suppliers, regulators, etc.)
Performs pretest, operational (functional), or final testing of electronic systems, components, or subassemblies
Performs overhaul, repair, fabrication, or modifications of electronics systems, components, or subassemblies. Utilizes safety and security practices and procedures following established rules and regulations and maintains a safe, clean, and secure work environment

- Required to possess a valid operator's license in order to drive a motor vehicle to and from work sites

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-2600 Electronic Equipment Installation and Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of an ELECTRONIC DIGITAL COMPUTER MECHANIC without more than normal supervision.
JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Comprehensive knowledge of the operation, capabilities, and limitations of complex electronic digital systems complicated by a variety of multi-component assemblies and devices; knowledge of electronic theory and circuits and basic logic circuits for power, timing, and motion controls, indicating and counting mechanisms, and similar devices; knowledge of Boolean algebra to construct truth tables and logic equations for analysis of logic circuits; and knowledge of related electrical, mechanical, optical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
Knowledge of safety, environmental, and security regulations, practices, and procedures
Knowledge of regulations, procedures, and policies related to records maintenance and documentation
Skill in troubleshooting electronic problems on large projects and applying test procedures; and in the use of hand and power tools of the electronics trade to include a variety of electronic, electrical, or electromechanical test and measurement equipment
Ability to test, calibrate, troubleshoot, overhaul, repair, and install complete electronic systems
Ability to read and interpret a variety of technical data, such as schematics, diagrams, and technical orders relating to the electronics trade
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work assignments require moderate physical effort. Makes repairs from work stands and other hard-to-reach places. Must stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, stretch, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts parts and equipment that weigh up to 20 pounds. Occasionally lifts items that weigh over 40 pounds with assistance from other workers.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Works both inside and outside, sometimes in bad weather and in areas that are noisy, dirty, dusty, and greasy. May work on scaffolding. Subject to electric shock, cuts, and bruises. May be exposed to temperature extremes in test facilities, extremely high noise levels, and exposure to lead, radiation, chemicals, or carcinogens.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
