About the Position: This position will serve as a Public Affairs Specialist with the Public Affairs Office, US Army Installation Command located at Fort Leonard Wood, MO.

Duties

Serve as the senior Public Affairs Specialist for the Command Information Branch in the Public Affairs Office (PAO), US Army Maneuver Support Center of Excellence (MSCoE). Perform complete editing functions of post command information products, working independently to produce a weekly electronic newsletter. Responsible for the Command Information's planning, management and operation, and for the effective utilization of the products for installation military personnel, active and retired members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and their families Make judgments to ensure stories or photographs do not offend sensitivities of the command's varied audiences, including surrounding civilian communities. Determine overall scope of each issue of the electronic newsletter, programs appropriate coverage and space for timely coverage of unique as well as recurring events. Establish contact with appropriate Fort Leonard Wood staff agencies and tenant organizations. Respond to emergency situations and is one of the PAO representatives in the installation Emergency Operation Center (EOC).

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing the online presence of an installation/organization and its public website content; reviewing material for accuracy, privacy, and conformance with policies; work closely with print, electronic and broadcast media representatives to inform and educate the public about the installation's/organization's mission; and respond to emergency situations and working with the emergency operation center and the emergency crisis communication cell. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as; Public Affairs, Public Relations, Communications Journalism. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
