You will serve as a ELECTRONIC INDUSTRIAL CONTROLS MECHANIC in the PUBLIC WORKS DIVISION of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.

Duties

You will determine the effects that alterations will have on a total system to verify added equipment will function correctly. You will evaluate the impact that electronically controlled industrial equipment repairs and adjustments will have on related integral devices. You will trace and locate defects, determine the nature and extent of repairs required, select appropriate tools, testing devices and work sequence. You will perform duties concerned with installation, maintenance and repair of process controls for air conditioning systems and large complex high and low pressure boiler plants. You will serve as a lead worker on project teams involved in the installation of complex systems new to the installation and on teams making major modifications to existing systems.

  • Must have Universal Certification from an EPA approved certifying program.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current CPR certification and Confined Space Entry training.
  • You must be able to wear a respirator.

Your resume must show that you have the ability to perform common tasks under general supervision including: 1) Assisting in installation, maintenance, troubleshooting electronic control equipment and systems, such as, commercial and industrial air conditioning and refrigeration systems; 2) Making repairs to systems that include analog and/or direct digital control (DDC) systems used in heating ventilation; air conditioning, and refrigeration systems; and 3) Use shop and trade practices to solve operation and repair problems, applying theoretical concepts, and interpreting electronic, electrical, mechanical drawings, and specifications Applicants must meet the requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualification Handbook for Trades and Labor Occupations.
