About the Position: Serves as Inpatient Behavioral Health (IBH) Psychology Technician with the Defense Health Agency - Womack Army Medical Center, Fort Liberty, NC providing individualized and group direct and indirect patient care to clients that are primarily active-duty military soldiers and other eligible personnel, and consultation. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Document intervention and patient’s response to treatment. Obtain a thorough clinical history through interviews and medical records. Assist in developing a treatment plan based on interviews, observations, records, and test results. Perform intake for behavioral health patients to determine the mental, emotional, or behavioral needs. Perform group and individual counseling and education for clients/patients with personal, behavioral or psychological problems. Coordinate activities and encourage participation from patients.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • A pre-placement medical examination is required. This position may require an annual physical or medical surveillance examination. Moderate to heavy lifting up to 45lbs. may be required.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to sign DA Form 5019 requiring participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
  • This position requires the incumbent to work rotating shifts, extended hours, weekends, holidays and/or other schedules common to hospital operations.
  • This is an inclement weather position. The incumbent is expected to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during inclement weather conditions.
  • This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
  • Must be able to obtain within 6 months of employment and maintain Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior (PMBD) required training.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement therefore the incumbent is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • This position may require the incumbent to have Tuberculosis testing.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of up to 5% of the time.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing intake for behavioral health patients, educating and/or counseling behavioral health patients, and maintaining patient records. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Psychology, Human Services, Child & Family Welfare, Counseling (ex. crisis, substance abuse, mental health, chemical dependence), Family and Community Services, Behavioral Science, Human Development, Social Work, Sociology, Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
