Duties

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for performing a variety of tasks associated with the day-to-day operations and administration of IT Systems within the Office of the United States Attorney, District of Delaware. Typical work assignments will include but not limited to: Maintaining network architecture and infrastructure; Provide customer service and support in troubleshooting, recovering, and resolving recurring software/hardware problems; Properly maintain and control assigned telecommunications systems using knowledge of the capabilities and applications of network equipment including hubs, routers, switches, servers, and related hardware; Applies knowledge of the capabilities of commercial information systems security products, including firewalls and intrusion detection software in use by the organization; Converts user-developed content into workable Web pages using standard graphics markup languages, such as hypertext markup language (HTML) or extensible markup language (XML). Uses a variety of formats to deliver content using the internet, including graphics and multimedia; Implementing policies and procedures to ensure information systems reliability; Monitoring functionality, security, and integrity of internet services; Installing, configuring, and maintaining litigation support equipment; and Installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining customer hardware and software. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
  • You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
  • If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
  • Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
  • You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position.

Qualifications

GS-11: Experiencemust be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification): For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, Problem Solving. AND Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying Information Technology concepts, methods, standards, Performing information Technology (IT) work that involves experience demonstrating developing, delivering, and supporting IT systems and services; Providing/suggesting alternative approaches to IT issues, problems and concern; and Providing various information technology customer services and support. OR Education: One of the following types of education in a related field: a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree. Degree must be in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. Career Transition Assistance Plan (CTAP)-The CTAP provides eligible surplus and displaced competitive service employees in the Department of Justice with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
