The incumbent is a Time and Attendance Clerk (Office Automation) in the Radiology Department and is located at the VA Medical Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
Duties
The Time and Leave Clerk (OA) is primarily responsible for maintaining time cards for employees in the Radiology, Nuclear, Medicine, and Laboratory Services' time and leave units. The incumbent also facilitates the work of the managerial and clinical support staff in Radiology by assisting with other clerical functions. Typical duties include, but are not limited to:
Daily posting of employees' time and attendance in the computerized timekeeping system.
Entering requests for overtime/compensatory time, selecting applicable types of time codes and evening/night differential.
Maintaining related records such as applications for leave, medical certification, requests for authorization of overtime, FMLA program requests, etc.
Provides orientation to new employees regarding their responsibilities related to leave and earnings reporting.
Receives telephone calls and visitors and directs all to appropriate staff members, handling routine matters personally as able.
Miscellaneous general clerical duties such as typing and filing when required.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/21/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-4 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-4. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-5 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Perform the duties as a Civilian Payroll Technician. Qualifying specialized experience includes responsibility for processing and verifying payroll transactions; knowledge of timekeeping procedures; ensuring accurate and timely pay for employees; applying an organizations' pay and leave policies to ensure accurate transactions; and using a computer to process payroll transactions and perform associated administrative duties.

Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have I have successfully completed 4 years above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. Transcripts must be submitted at time of application.

Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond. Possess equivalent combination of successfully completed post-high school education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (beyond the second year) and specialized experience as described above, which meet the total experience requirements for this grade level. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. Transcripts must be submitted at time of application.
