The Supervisory Laundry Worker serves as the textile care supervisor of a large, complex automated Laundry, serving three medical centers. These include Mountain Home VAMC, Asheville North Carolina VAMC, and Salisbury North Carolina VAMC. He/She sets priorities and deadlines to facilitate the ease of operations, maintains flexibility and adaptability to meet emergent and changing situations. A ONE YEAR SUPERVISORY PROBATIONARY PERIOD IS REQUIRED OF ALL NEWLY APPOINTED SUPERVISORS.

Duties

The Supervisory Laundry Worker must analyze work schedules, determine manpower requirements, materials, methods, procedures and equipment required to, accomplish any objective. The incumbent adjusts the workload and the work flow, taking into consideration delivery schedules, equipment, and work force. Major duties include but not limited to: Ensures all textiles are hygienically clean, conforming to current bacteriological standards. Ensures good customer relations by noting incidents of claims and complaints regarding late delivery and/or work quality and taking ·action to uncover and minimize causes. Conducts comprehensive training programs for all textile care employees, with special emphasis on new employees, maintains harmonious working relationships among employees. Determines textile requirements, materials, and supplies and has authority to make decisions on technical matters involving the operation of equipment in the consolidated Laundry. Performs other duties as assigned. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/22/2024. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Incumbent must be in good, mental and physical condition at all times due to the complexity of operations and physical layout of the consolidated Laundry. This involves contact with the using departments of textiles and uniforms, other service personnel and participation in other medical center activities as required. The position involves long periods of standing, bending, and stooping to observe work operations in any areas of the consolidated Laundry.
